I cut out the glass pieces for a bat today :D I will foil him and solder him tomorrow. He is purplely red and I enjoy him. I searched everywhere for easy Egyptian stained glass patterns to make Leah something though, and came up with zip. Poos.

I have finally started to like Amy Pond in Doctor Who. It only took a series and a half. At first she bored me and then she annoyed me and now I think she's okay. Mostly because Rory is there <3. I have mostly accepted Matt Smith as the doctor too. Don't get me wrong, he's brilliant. But it is all a matter of preference and he's not one of my favourites. Three and Ten still get those spots. And for me Smith is just below Tom Baker and just above Christoper Eccleston. But I don't dislike him like Colin Baker (FFFffffugh). I think one of the reviewers summed it up best when he said Matt Smith is a delight to watch and he plays the Doctor well, he just brings nothing new to the part. I agree, though I know there are others who do not. I just miss the depth of emotion Tennant showed on his face. Smith is much more into underplaying it, which is fine! I just prefer the other way. Though under the direction of Moffat, the entire series is different than it was under Davies. I miss having a connection to London. I also kind of miss when...like...storylines made sense. I love Moffat and even when Davies was at the helm his episodes were some of my favourite, but...WHAT EVEN?! His arcs are AMAZING but halfway unintelligible at times.

Also? I really want to hate River Song, but I don't. There was a moment a few episodes ago where she kissed Eleven for the first last time and her reaction- I started crying and then cursed at her for making me love her. Dammit.

And no one should ever let Richard Curtis write an episode ever again. That bastard always makes me cry. Well, okay not always because Blackadder didn't make me cry until the end of the fourth series, but I'm a sucker and the last shot of Vincent and the Doctor, just...man. AND Neil Gaiman's awesome episode made me weepy too. I loved it.

I got the second part of my loan finally. Six class weeks before the end of the year, but at least that means all the work I have done this year wasn't for nothing!

We have been watching Star Trek: The Original Series and it is awesome. Even if the 60s-era misogyny is rampant. I love Bones, Spock and Kirk. They are so in a three-way relationship.

Mexican food and The Trip last night was awesome too! I love Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan! They are brilliant together. And now I want to watch A Cock and Bull Story again sometime! Their banter is the best thing about it. Their banter and Dylan Moran hanging with Gillian Anderson.

Since I had slept basically the entire weekend, I was up yesterday for 24 hours. So the last 45 minutes or so of the movie was hard to stay awake for, but I'm so glad I didn't fall asleep. And not just because no one needs to hear my great honking snores. I would have been so sad to miss it.

Sometime this week I need to start my law essay and make an appointment to get my prescription renewed. But things are looking up, even if I am still really tired. And soon there will be curry! :D And then I will eat more of my giant dinosaur-lolly from Laura!

..last night I had a dream Neil Gaiman was my dad. It was awesome. Even if, for ONCE, I wish I could not have a lucid dream. Strangely, being aware that your dreams aren't real even as you dream them is kind of tiring.

Spent Christmas day with Laura and Leah and it was magical and awesome. I haven't eaten that much in one day for...a very long time. Dear god. So we ate and watched DVDs all day. For like 12 hours. It was the best Christmas I have had in a damn long time.

Watched Clue, The Ring 2, Dungeons and Dragons (for the lols) and Ghostbusters 2.

We also watched the ultimate Christmas movie. The Addams Family.

Some quotes:

Laura: "Oh my god! One of my brothers' ex boyfriends looks like Lurch!"

Laura: "Hey, guys! If we have The Mask we could totally watch The Mask"
Leah: "We could. If I had a gun I could also shoot my kneecaps out!"

I don't think Leah approves of Jim Carrey. Just something about that gives me a hintling.

OH and Neil Gaiman linked to Tim Minchin's Christmas song White Wine in the Sun for the second year in a row in his Christmas blog. I love it when people I adore also adore each other :D

Dear Alina,

Please don't kill me for this. I am doing it because you are amazing. (And I love Hera. But I mostly love you.)

Love,

Lara!

SO this is a quote from the blog of one Hera Hjartardottir (http://www.herasings.com/blog which has lovely photos of Hera at Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer's artperformance wedding flashmob thing!) The amazing, Christhurch (via Iceland) singer/songwriter the LFoD likes to stalk.

And for those of you frustrated with the Icelandic interview... here is not a translation, but a documentary! by the super lovely Alina White, who contacted me a few months ago about doing this, it was her project for film school (- the school of fine arts, university of Canterbury.) She's also an awesome artist! Here it is in two parts :) xo

Alina's Amazing Documentary, complete with THE CUTEST HERA EVER )

And Ali informed us that the song at the end was her suggestion and her favourite. It's gorgeous and I WANT A RECORDING. Makebelieve Girl is close to my livejournal's title (it's artificial girl, but close enough).

Whomever it is outside who keeps honking that freaking tootyhorn is about to get my foot up their ass in a minute.

No, really, I'm happy.

I actually am, I just hate tootyhorns!

EDIT: Wow. Neil Gaiman wrote a review of the Dresden Dolls reunion performances and while I like Amanda's solo stuff more, I am thinking now that is because I never saw the Dresden Dolls live. This review had me sobbing by the end (I do that. If it's emotional, I cry) and it's absolutely beautiful and frank and real and I love it.

"How do you sleep at night? It must be like catching lightning in a jar."

Oh my god. I just watched Stardust. I am in love. Neil Gaiman, why are you so goddamn lovely? Why do you write the most awesome things?

Oh right. Because you are the most awesome. True fax.

In the end of the movie I yelled "BUT WHO IS GOING TO SHINE UP THERE" and then my question was answered and I'm so gosh darn HEARTWARMED I could heat...a...cold place. And then the three of us giggled because we quoted Boosh. "Look at them shine! Look at them shinin'. Look at them shine!"

No, but seriously. Love. And Henry Cavill had twat hair in it and then he made SEX EYES at ROBERT DE NIRO who was the most fabulous person who ever fabuloused... Henry Cavill was supposed to be with Sienna Miller but he winked at Robert who is a MUCH BETTER CHOICE yes he is. I approve. Go make fabulous sex.

Also, Charlie Cox DOES = Peter Rodgers when he gets a makeover. It was pretty awesome.

Why did I wait until now to see this movie? It's been out forever, and I love Gaiman. *sigh* But now I have seen it and I can go to sleep with a warmed heart. All together now. "D'awwwwww!"

I was feeling down today (LONG story) so I decided to do something constructive to take the feeling away (social work training, oy) so I wanted to make a post of all the photos of people and places and things that mean something to me. And when I started to plan it, I realised just how long it would be if I put everyone into it. And that made me feel so amazing, you have no idea...

I did it anyway deciding I would only use photos I have taken myself (or by my family since I wasn't at the reunion to take those and I didn't take the ones of me as a kid, but you get the point!) to cut down on spamming random Hugh Jackman pictures ;). Not everyone that should be here is including my friends in Australia. Woot, Peter, Laura and Ness, I have no (not blurry) photos of you!! And there are other friends who aren't on here, but be that as it may, here it is. Some of my happy things.

To me you are perfect )

Wellington was awesome, even though we did arrive to a blustery day! While walking to the hostel, rain started dumping down with little warning and wind whipped up and that was a little startling. We got to the hostel and it was awesome but there was a crawlspace up near the ceiling which was a little alarming…

POsted by Neil Gaiman in his blog:

In a hotel lobby waiting for a car to pick me up and take me to a brief meeting and then on to the airport to fly to New Zealand where I will see my fiancee whom I miss, and Margo Lanagan and Audrey Niffenegger both of whom I will be amazingly happy to see.

AND ME! He forgot to say me, but I forgive him because of his epic hair.

EEEEIIIIII WELLINGTON TOMORROW AND TOMORROW! (That means Friday...)

My classes are awesome, my flatmates are awesome, my room is awesome, and I am awesome.

Things are awesome.

And you are awesome too :D

Oh man. History FTW. Not that it's pleasant! Today I learned about the Easter Rising and STUFF and tomorrow is the trip to Malahide Castle and the coast *unrestrained glee* And then I'm going to go BACK to Kilmainham Gaol because I gave up on it today. You can't go through without a guided tour and I didn't want to wait for the 5:30 pm one when I have the ghost bus (:D) at 8pm. Tomorrow it is not an issue. If I have time I'll go to Dublinia at Christchurch Cathedral, but I'm not fussed. It's just spend time really. I'm more interested in the gaol. I really like this city too. Not in the 'omg I have to live here' way like Vienna and London and Melbourne, but in the 'this is really a wonderful place to visit' way. It'd probably be even better if I gave a crap about stout. SO MANY PEOPLE were lined up outside the Guinness brewery. Stinky!

So now I am relaxing with coffee, listening to Amanda Palmer and Lennon, writing My Boys, and gnerally wasting time until the ghost bus tour. Speaking of My Boys Look! I SWEAR I didn't arrange them like this, I found them like that and SQUEALED and got dirty looks...

Oh god, I had the BEST lunch. This two course thing with calamari and steak for 8 euro. Freakin' awesome! And I went into St Patrick's Cathedral which was incredible and the history is amazing, but I still think the one in Melbourne is prettier. It just IS.

I'll post more after the Ghost Bus because of the writing I am wishing to be doing. Plot bunnies, you are my FRIENDS never leave me?! Oh, and Neil Gaiman is a genius and now I have mentioned both Neil and Amanda in the same post because I love them both and SQUEEE.

PS I also love Michael Collins, but I think most people knew that?

PPS Do you think my singing is disturbing other guests?! Not that I care, they're getting a free concert. Because I'm a freaking diva. (That was partial sarcasm...)

PPPS Scout, there's a Fitzwilliam square here and I tried to find it for you and FAILED! But I'll try again tomorrow!! Let's see if my lame map-reading skills can help me out here...

Photos! I added descriptions to the ones yesterday because I found out what they are ;)
