Tried to play fetch with Echo today but she just stared at me like I was insane and then chased the soda lid I had thrown for her underneath the bookcase. Little scrapper.

Helios got into something ashy because he came inside yesterday with black paws. And he is a delicate-peach-coloured boy with bright white paws. So something was up there! He had a smudge on his nose too. Adorable! His paws are grey now and I think he needs a bath.

As for Ariadne, she curled up on my pillow last night and then inserted her tail into my mouth as I was cooing at her and telling her how adorable she is. Thanks, girl.

In non-cat news, Good Friday dinner was awesome and I made key lime pie. The recipe was super-easy and it turned out really nicely! I might put a little more lime in it next time, but it was delicious! And Alison roasted chickens and we played Drawception and it was pretty brilliant. Hurrah.

Then there was an aftershock, but I'm going to pretend I didn't notice.

So last night I decided to get a region-free DVD player so I could watch my imported DVDs in my room. Especially the ones no one else wants to watch. *coughMostHauntedcough* I found a nice one that was really cheap and so I ordered it. Then I found out, not a few hours later, that VLC player ignores regions. I have had VLC player for years. I feel like such a tool. So I cancelled the order, thankfully. And now I can watch the DVDs in my room instead of falling asleep on the sofa while staring at Yvette Fielding's face. I am such a derp-face.

So now I am gushing about cats on other people's LJs and spamming Tumbler with their faces. No, really. See?

I call it a productive day when I bond over kitties and share their adorableness with people! Also Helios just brought in a big bug from outside but then he ate it. Good boy! He had a productive day too then!

But in all seriousness, I actually had the energy to run my errands today which was very pleasing. And now I can just relax. :D

I just had a dream that I was watching a zombie movie in my childhood home which doesn't even belong to us any more. But in the dream it did. And the movie was SET in my childhood home. The movie-makers had scouted the location and filmed part of it there, lalala.

So in the movie apparently zombies couldn't eat people in the country unless they had permission or they were in a special field. I DON'T KNOW! So they broke into my garage while the main character was getting wood for the fireplace over on my side of the house. The zombies couldn't eat the main character so they ATE MY CAT! Well, Binky was actually my sister's cat and our family had him from when I was about 7 until I was 24ish when he died of old age. He was in the garage and the zombies ate him. And I'm watching this movie IN THAT HOUSE so I had to run down the stairs and make sure he was okay. Apparently the filmmakers wanted to incorporate Binky into the movie. WHO KNOWS WHY. Binky was a one-eyed, crooked-jawed awesomekitty who had been hit by a car and was still badass. So I suppose having him killed by zombies in a movie IS pretty fitting for his awesomeness. And then I was all blogging, "that awkward moment when watching a zombie movie set in your house and zombies eat your cat". Yeah. Because that happens all the time.

Naomi Watts was also in the movie. And then the main guy was all cutting her head off and then someone knocked on my door and I woke up because my carpet arrived. It matches my drapes.

Been avoiding my journal because LJ pisses me off. So here's a quick update:

Back in New Zealand. Being in the US and avoiding real life was awesome. Now I have to do actual decisions though. Calling WINZ tomorrow to look in to going on disability for chronic fatigue since I still completely crash out of nowhere and just can't do anything. Then I need to up my meds because being sick for so long is depressing and what I'm on isn't enough any more.

Also I have a cold which I am sure I got from the plane.

BUT I am back with my kitties and my housemates. They are such lovely people. I couldn't ask for better people to be with while I slog my way through this.

Once I figure out what I am doing next year, then I need to just get better. Because really? I'd like my life to continue and it feels like it has just stalled. I don't like it.

Oh, Donna Noble. <3 I can't wait to watch it all again with Alison!

/Doctor Who

I have to do Christmas shopping for my niece and nephews. I should figure out what to get them! On Friday I am going to Missoula to spend a few days there with my Pants. It's a very timely visit. Her cat, Cassie just died of kidney failure. I am so crushed. When I was roommates with Jayann, Cassie lived there too. She was the cutest little Burmese. Once I was eating buffalo wings and she jumped up, stole one of the bones, and ran away from me. I ran after her and Jayann laughed so hard as we both charged into the room, her scrambling away and me yelling. Cassie was awesome. So tiny and ballsy. I was so looking forward to seeing her again. Such a lovely little girl <3

Still in Frisco airport. I gave up on my cousin and then I ate fish and chips. And now I feel sick because my body is like "you asshat, I want sleep not food. WTF is wrong with you!?" So that's nice! I am going to inform the flight attendant that if I pass out, it's because I have post-viral fatigue and it is not, in fact, a medical emergency.

I haven't lived in the US for eight years and despite being a waitress for seven years before that, I forgot how to tip. I DID tip, because I never wouldn't here in the US. But it's not a thing in Australia and NZ. So the server gave me the credit card slip and I panicked and had to ask her how to write in the tip. She kindly showed me the place where is said TIP in big letters. *sigh* I also forgot you get water in the US whether you order it or not, so I ended up with three drinks. I am full of coffee, lemonade and fish.

I also tried to plug my laptop into the powerpoint here three times before realising I have an Australian plug and it wasn't going to fit in the American holes without my converter which is in my checked baggage. I am so far gone, it's ridic.

Then I got back onto LJ, plugless, and I read this on Kyle Cassidy's blog. Some jerk had a sick cat so they just put it outside. It was found half-dead in a gutter. I can't believe people. I AM SO CHEERY RIGHT NOW! I am a ball of delight.

*giggles* Ball.

Anyway, donate if you can, rage at inhumane jerkfaces if you can't.

I just cleaned...so much. It turns out my vampire fang box fell off my bookshelf and I probably vaccumed up one of the fangs. Darnit. But you know...they were expensive things but not entirely practical. So I will live.

Now I am so tired and zoning out to As It Fades by VNV Nation which is like what floating through the Aurora Borealis must sound like.

Have some photos of today, including my awesome room and Leah's creepy costume )

Ocicat Breed temperament

Ocicats are a very outgoing breed. They are often considered to have the spirit of a dog in a cat's body. Most can easily be trained to fetch, walk on a leash and harness, come when called, speak, sit, lie down on command and a large array of other dog-related tricks. Most are especially good at feline agility because they are very toy-driven. Some even take readily to the water. Ocicats are also very friendly and sociable. They will typically march straight up to strangers and announce that they'd like to be petted. This makes them great family pets, and most can also get along well with animals of other species, although they are likely to assert their dominance over all involved. Ocicats make excellent pets for people who want to spend a lot of time with their cat, but they do require more attention than cats who aren't so people-oriented.

Yeah, this exactly describes my Echo-baby. Right down to the fetching. We were discussing how she was a dog this weekend. Now I totally want to get her a harness and walk her around so people will be like O_O!!

This is basically exactly her. It pleases me immensely.

I let Helios Tiberius Fassbender out last night at around 6:30ish. He always goes outside. But he's been out there for 13 hours now and I haven't seen him and I have panicky issues with cats being outside anyway but he's Alison's and she likes him being allowed to go outside. So I didn't do anything wrong, but ffff.

If I just lost Alison's cat on the day she went to Australia to de-stress, I am going to slam my face into a wall repeatedly and never fucking forgive myself, fuck.

Chances are he's off doing his catty thing, but he doesn't usually stay away from the deck for very long. He comes back and whines and I couldn't sleep all night because I parked myself on the sanity mattress in the living room just in case he knocked the metal thing beside the door to come in. I have appointments and class today, I can't be flipping out about the ginger, but behold, that is what I am doing.

I hope he's okay :( And I am so not letting him outside until Alison comes home when he comes back, for fucking serious.

EDIT: He's back! Alison's dad accidentally locked him in the garage when he went out for take-aways last night. Helios now looks like he's afraid of everything in the world. Apparently the garage door opening gave him a fright. But he's home and safe and really freaking dirty and cobwebby and I hope he didn't take a scared-crap on any of Woot's things... Unless he was in the other garage. I am not sure. Either way, I can breathe again. It's nice.

The past few days have been eventful. First, I got Echo a collar and decided she could go outside, since she doesn't just hide under the porch and refuse to come out like certain tortoiseshell cats I know. Her first day outside and she gets stung in the throat by a bee. It swells up to gigantic proportions and I have to take her to an afterhours vet which costs a heck of a lot of money. So guess who gets to stay inside for a little while now. :| Not happy.

The other night I woke myself up screaming! I had been having ghost nightmares all night, but the one I woke up from and finally decided to just stay up involved a room in the basement of my childhood home. But the room was Evil. And we were hanging around outside it, who knows why. One of the cats wandered in and Leah decided she didn't like him in there and she was going to get him out. I watched from the door frame and this random doll was running around to be freaky. Dolls terrify me. And she handed the cat to me but she didn't follow. I went back for her, calling her name. I found her in the corner, staring dead-eyed up at a ghost who had taken her form but twisted and terrifying. And the Leah-ghost turned towards me and rushed me. When Leah-ghost was a centimetre from my face, that's when I woke up screaming. Not.Awesome. Unless it was in a movie. Then really awesome.

Went to the doctor to renew my prescription and complain that I am still tired. I explained that I had even slept about 10 hours last night and woke up feeling like I do when I travel and don't sleep for two days. So tomorrow I have to have MORE tests done. Joy of joys. She said now it's probably just post-virus fatigue, but she wants to rule everything out.

Me? I just want to sleep for like...days. Humph.

But I did get a 1949 edition of Chaucer's Poetical Works in stunning condition from the Uni bookstore's used books shelf for incredibly cheap. It's so beautiful, I want to marry it.
