I was looking up Tim Minchin photos on Google because, you know, I do that all the time now. And I found one of him in the RMIT theatre I believe he booked for the 2005 Melbourne Comedy Festival gig where the lady from Edinburgh saw him which jumpstarted his career. And I was looking at the photo and there's a sign in it that says 'Swanston Street' and it made me so homesick for Melbourne.

Damn you, Tim Minchin! ...I take it back, I love you forever.

That theatre was where we went to go see Chris' movie premiere and that is the street the beautiful bathhouses are on and Melbourne Central where the movies live. And that stupid fountain right in front of this theatre that looks like a post box and with the water shortages it can't run anyway most of the time. Which is fine. It's ass ugly. (EDIT: AHAHHA I found a photo which makes it look all fancy. It's nice. And even in the photo it's still just a square with water coming out. Usually there's garbage floating in it. Lovely.)

It's such a weird feeling being homesick for a place. I have never really been homesick for the US, despite missing the people. This time, it's kind of the other way around (PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENCE TO THIS, seriously, I miss the people, but you are not my family) and I miss the place a lot. I do not miss water restrictions and overcrowded trains and rampant dinnertime racism and I am like...200% happier here. I love Christchurch. I love New Zealand. I still miss Melbourne.

Melbourne at night is one of the most beautiful things ever

Southbank. It has big hotels. And a beautiful river walk. And inside there is a lollyshop I love.

Chinatown where the Lady of the Red Kimono convinced Lisa, Lewi and me to eat at a restaurant there because she was hot.

Melbourne Town Hall. Comedy Festival venue and also the venue for Australian Catholic Uni graduations. Working grads we were backstage and I found the dressing room with ROSS NOBLE written on it, it had been half crossed out and then replaced with Dylan Moran. Dylan is not fond, or at least he said as much as the gigs we saw. Also? My friend broke an antique door handle backstage. Whoops.

Australian Catholic University, Saint Patrick's Campus. Located in the old Australian Mint building (money, people, not the herb). I worked there from 2006 to January 2010 with some of the best people in the world.

A photo only I will find amusing. ACU's Vice Chancellor with now Prime Minister of Australia. I only laugh at this because he (Craven *kicks*) makes that face in every photo ever and I think he has the personality to match. I CAN SAY THAT I DON'T WORK THERE ANY MORE HAH HAH.

My walk to work every morning through the Fitzroy Gardens

My first REAL job there, at the Gene Technology Access Centre. You were an awesome place to work.

Lygon Street, where I liked to eat.

More Lygon Street!

Forty Five Downstairs. Site of the notorious musical I was in. It was sort of terrible, but I performed in a show that made money. And this venue is gorgeous anyway.

Saint Kilda Pier. I didn't know you as well as I wish I did. But I did almost accidentally pick up a hooker in this suburb. Ah, Saint Kilda.

And my favourite place in Melbourne, Saint Patrick's Cathedral (and no, not because of role play. It always has been. And no, I'm not Catholic. It's just beautiful.)

Oh you beautiful thing you.

I noticed! I was just busy, BB ;)

It is, isn't it?! I love it. It's a gorgeous city and I rather enjoyed the place, but apparently I'm a nomad! So onward I go :D

I'm OBSESSED with that guy....and not JUST cause he's Achilles okay so maybe that's part of it. Love his pretty vocals. Reminds me I gotta get to work on you and Circe's xmas!

As long as you noticed and check it out later~ Cause it's worth seein and drooling over. XD

I've never been out of the country except when I went to Italy. I need to get out more! XD

Sign. I am so geographically sheltered. It is a truly beautiful cathedral. I want to be inside it.

The inside is beautiful, but I only went in once. The outside just made me feel all peaceful when I walked by it every day!

I love Melbourne. The plan was always to move there at some point but now I've got the best part of the reason I was going to move snoring in the other room ;)

It's still a gorgeous city though. I need to go back and do the tourist thing again since it's been quite a few years now.

Leah, you say the best things. *kissykisses!*

YES I want to do it too, even though I don't really need to do the TOURIST thing. I wouldn't mind seeing places again. And it hasn't even been a year yet ;)

I feel placesick for England sometimes. It is a beautiful country, despite everything. The soundtrack for The Secret Garden always makes me want to be in England in Spring. It's similar to here but different. Spring here always seems to be fleeting, I think it maybe lasts long in the UK. And you know, the whole walking around in history thing. As much as I love home, it's a young country, there isn't the same established lived-in-ness, you know?

If anyone's going to Melbourne, I want to come too!

Placesick sounds like a better way to put it :D I get placesick for Vienna all the time. I totally agree, I love the feeling of walking in history. And all of the places I have lived are relatively young countries. It's interesting :D

Yes! It's great =) And yet, I signed up to do NZ history... ah well. It's for my own good. It's useful to know these things, makes you sound smarter in conversation.

You're making me nostalgic for Melbourne, and I live here!

And Saint Pat's Cathedral is so pretty, I remember going there in primary school.

Hahaahaa I am very talented!

Since ACU is part of the diocese, a lot of events were held there, but I only went to one, not being catholic. Still it was nice to work a block away from it and to see it out the window every day :D

I saw you apped/apping in a LJ myth game! I want to go with you...>_> I thought you'd do Pat and I'd throw in Achilles but I dunno. I feel scared...that I'd not get in.
