Today, Jayann and I went to Orana Park which was AWESOME. We bought special tickets to be able to see the lions up close and HOLY GHOST you should see this crap. They were all around us while we were in this cage thing and they growled and roared and fought over food and jumped up on the cage above us and AAAUUGGGH it was amazing.

These are not zoomed in. Even a little.

(This lady told a story about cheetahs too, and it was so happy and it made me cry because YAY happy cheetahs!)

IT'S A LION GET IN THE CAR!

Am jealous though, I'd love to be so close to them.

It was interesting being the ones in the cages, I'll tell you what...

It was AMAZING. And indescribable. They had a fight under the truck and it was rocking like mad too. Which was kind of creepy but awesome.

SO much coolness!! I am so jealous!! The closest I ever came to something that nifty was I got to feed some dolphins after a show.

I want to ask you a billion questions which I'm sure would reveal too much of my geekery.

It was so much fun! There's a wildlife cruise here where you get to see Hectors Dolphins, but we're saving that for next time. Because it's $67!

Ask away, and I'll see if I can answer!

The very first question that came to mind was: What did they smell like? So much of memory is wrapped around smell so I guess that's why this question popped up first.

Was it scary? When I saw the photo with the CLAWS my first reaction was OH! TOUCH THEM! Were you under strict orders to keep from the sides or anything?

Mostly I smelled the meat they were eating because that was all in my face!

Yes, we were a foot back from the sides so we could have touched them, but got told they were fast and the keepers didn't feel like filling out forms for missing body parts. Which is fair, since I didn't feel like missing body parts either. It was a little scary but in that awesome "I cannot believe this is happening right now omg" way :D

Did you see the baby rhino?! And the meerkats?! ADORABLENESS ABOUND AT THE ZOO!

From: [identity profile] artemisofluna.livejournal.com

I DID I DID! That baby rhino is AWESOME and the meerkats are always great. I have video of the meerkats eating a baby chicken. I didn't post it because it's pretty gross, but I'm weird like that.

As I've gotten older I've gotten more nervous about things like that! Looks cool for you, tho!! And very cool that it's an option.
